The route
I left Columbus, OH June 1st on the Scioto River and headed south to Portsmouth, OH and meet the Ohio River. From Portsmouth, OH down the Ohio River to Cairo, IL, where it forms the Lower Mississippi River. From the Cairo, IL to New Orleans on Mighty Mississippi. Once I hit New Orleans, I worked my way across the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to Florida taking a combination of rivers, bays, ocean and the Intercostal Waterway. Once I hit Florida I joined the Florida Circumnavigation Saltwater Paddling Trail. I made it to Apalachicola, FL before being forced out due to Hurricane Irma. Instead of sitting idle I got back on the Ohio River in Steubenville, Ohio and paddled back to Portsmouth completing all but the first 60 miles of the Ohio. I am now back in Florida continuing on paddling down the gulf coast from Apalachicola. Only time will tell where I will go to hit 3,000 miles.
